Michael van Gerwen came from behind to beat Luke Humphries in the final leg and claim the Nordic Darts Masters title in Denmark.
Van Gerwen was the top seed for the event in Copenhagen and he edged past Viktor Tingstrom (6-5) in the quarter-finals and Jonny Clayton (7-4) in the semis to reach the final.
Humphries, meanwhile, avenged his recent Premier League final defeat by Luke Littler by beating the world champion 7-5 in the semi-finals with a match average of 105.
That included a 132 finish, in which the Englishman hit the bullseye twice before landing double 16.
The final then proved another high-quality contest, with Dutchman Van Gerwen winning 8-7 for his 18th PDC World Series title and second in 2026.
World number two Humphries went 3-1 up before Van Gerwen, currently ranked fourth in the world, rattled off four straight legs to take the lead.
The former world champions traded breaks of throw as the match went to a decider, in which Humphries just missed the bullseye to clinch victory.
Van Gerwen then stepped up to finish off 72 on double top and become the first player to win the event twice since it started in 2021.
“I think Luke let me get away with it because he had a chance to be 4-1 up,” said Van Gerwen. “Then you try to take advantage and luckily I did.
“It is always nice to have a win behind your name again. That gives confidence and a good feeling because my performances early on in the rounds were not good.
“But more importantly it was how I bounced back to keep grafting. That makes me win today and I am really pleased with that.”
The World Series continues with the US Darts Masters at New York’s Madison Square Garden from 25-27 June.
